Spanish Intermodal Support – Port of Sagunto

Port of Sagunto - Spanish Port Embraces Rail with New Intermodal Facility

A new intermodal facility is currently being built in Spain, at the port of Sagunto. This facility will be equipped with two yards – one for handling containers and the other for handling vehicles. The Spanish Ministry of Transportation, Mobility and Urban Agenda has launched a 15 million euro tender for this project which is due to commence next spring.
The anticipated  Container Yard and the Vehicle Yard will be able to accommodate 750-metre trains. An 11 month rail infrastructure project at the port of Sagunto will be upgraded to enable train circulation on both the Iberian and the standard gauge. New access routes will be enabled to improve the connection between the Vehicle Terminal and pier berthing area.
