Port of Sagunto - Spanish Port Embraces Rail with New Intermodal Facility

A new intermodal facility is currently being built in Spain, at the port of Sagunto. This facility will be equipped with two yards – one for handling containers and the other for handling vehicles. The Spanish Ministry of Transportation, Mobility and Urban Agenda has launched a 15 million euro tender for this project which is due to commence next spring.
The anticipated  Container Yard and the Vehicle Yard will be able to accommodate 750-metre trains. An 11 month rail infrastructure project at the port of Sagunto will be upgraded to enable train circulation on both the Iberian and the standard gauge.
