Position Summary:
The Logistics Coordinator will have freight brokerage/logistics experience coordinating and dispatching transportation services including full truckload shipments and less-than-truckload (LTL) services. Cross Border and local delivery services is also required. This experience will include a strong history of communicating with customers and transport partners, as well as an established ability to locate trucking capacity and negotiate competitive rates as needed to get all loads covered and meet our shipping and delivery commitments to our clients. A willingness to grow and take on additional responsibilities will be vital as we expand our U.S. operations and build our domestic logistics customer base.
Essential Functions:
- Strong understanding of the domestic Canadian and cross border, truckload and less-than-truckload marketplace including routing options, seasonal freight flows and pricing. Monitor industry news and data to proactively respond to developments which can affect our ability to move customer goods.
- Build and maintain solid relationships with contracted carriers and new transportation partners to ultimately ensure competitive pricing and available capacity to reliably cover customer shipments throughout the entire year.
- Provide spot quote pricing to customers and respond to quote requests promptly.
- Regular and proactive telephone and electronic communication with customers to follow-up on and update current load activity and review future shipment needs.
- Ensure that all loads are shipped in the most timely and efficient manner according to documented processes, including selecting the mode of transportation, meeting all contractual requirements, tendering the order for transportation, and tracking the shipment from pickup through delivery.
- Daily communications with dispatchers and drivers to track loads in transit and ensure delivery commitments will be met.: Input shipment details promptly and maintain data entry records with a high level of accuracy.
- Immediately advise customers and management of any shipment delays or issues that have occurred.
- Adhere to all state/provincial, federal, and local regulations.
- Meet targeted customer service, on-time pickup and delivery and service quality standards within established cost reduction and freight savings objectives.
- Assist in reviewing and submitting pricing for customer Request for Quotations and bids.
- Provide reports to internal and external customers as required.
- Work with local and company management to effectively and immediately resolve any issues.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
- Provide suggested changes and input to current policies and procedures that would result in improved customer service and performance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Knowledge:
- 4+ years experience in freight brokerage/logistics coordinating and dispatching truckload and less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation services
- Strong familiarity with container drayage and air freight transport services preferred.
- Knowledge of logistics/shipping terms and concepts
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to solve problems, while also able to manage multiple priorities with a sense of urgency.
- Accurate and timely data entry
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
- A ‘can do’ team player able to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a small team.
- Solid computer skills including specialized dispatch and transportation management software, and Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Excel, and Word)
